New Zealand publishes genuinely good rental data. It is also buried in a quarterly spreadsheet keyed to statistical area codes, so almost nobody outside the industry ever sees it. A tenant deciding whether their rent is fair, or an investor sizing up a suburb, is left with listing-site averages and hearsay.
SuburbIQ closes that gap: take the official record, map it to the suburb names people actually use, and publish it as one clear page per suburb — free, without a sign-up wall, and with the working shown.
SuburbIQ is built by Amit Sharma, an award-winning Auckland real-estate agent working with property owners across the region. The rent data here is the same data he uses in appraisals. If you are weighing up selling, buying an investment, or renting out a property, you can request a free appraisal — and if you just want the numbers, take them and go, with no obligation at all.
If a suburb is grouped wrongly, a figure looks off, or a suburb you care about is missing, we want to know. How each number is produced is set out on the methodology page; corrections can be sent through the contact form.
SuburbIQ carries no advertising of any kind, and it never will. There are no ad networks, no sponsored suburbs and no paid placement — every number on this site is generated automatically from the MBIE dataset before a page is written, so there is nothing for an advertiser to influence even in principle. The site is free because the rent data is public and Amit would rather you trusted the figures than paid for them.
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which suburbs people actually look up, which is how we decide what to build next. It records the page you viewed, a rough location derived from your IP address (which is truncated before it is stored), and general device and browser details. It is not used to build advertising profiles, and no data is sold. Google's own explanation is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
